G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

A very relevant poem… the destruction is heart-wrenching…
Thank you Mona… it’s been declared a state of emergency today, the situation is worsening …. I’m safe down here in Victoria, but our hearts go out to those in the devastated areas of New South Wales
We used to live in an area that had fires every June, July, August. 😦 It was scary! So horrible!
Your poem is so important and bringing awareness. I hope you are safe! I’ve been praying for everyone who is dealing with the fires, in any way. And praying for rain.
I quite safe here in Victoria… The fires are the north region of New South Wales (you’ll have to get your maps out) Geelong is south of Melbourne in Victoria…… but they desperately need rain…. the fires seem to be too fierce at the moment…….. Ivor wrote these 2 lines yesterday….
“There’s a message in the smoke of all these fires,
But still, there’s no-one listening our mother earth’s cries”
Often the earth tries to speak to human-beans and human-beans are too busy in life’s foolishness to listen to the messages…the oh so very important messages. 😦

Wildfires are tearing up California too. I give prayers to the men and women trying to calm down something who will not calm. Very touching poem.

There’s a message in the smoke of these fires,
But still, there’s no listening to her cries

Yes. Accountability and appropriate response appear to be beyond human capacity.

These fires are so bad Ivor. The fire fighters must be exhausted.

I’m afraid so, the winds are still strong, so it’s nearly impossible at the moment

A wonderful poem Ivor. I feel for those in the area of the fire. Bushboy’s photos show how wide the smoke filled skies have spread.
