Enough To Fill A Fire Bucket

How deep is your ocean ?

Are your tears drowning in the Red Sea ?

Is that black keyboard able to swim ?

Will your wet-suit protect you from the frozen lake ?

How long before your aqueducts run dry ?

Have you someone, to repair your heart’s broken levees ?

Are you able to withstand the crushing waves ?

Will those floodwaters ever stop ?

Has the smouldering really been doused ?

Were your love ones ashes, washed away today ?

Is this the story of life, for you ?

Then, ring-out the moisture, from your leftover soul

Fill the fire buckets, with raindrops of sorrow

Let us join the human-chain, and throw water on the flames

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. I’m pleased you appreciated this piece, … No matter our circumstances, or the twisted journey of our life…. we are still a part of the “human-chain” and we are here to love and share the planet we walk on…….

    1. Good girl… that’s my little message here, no matter our circumstances, we the people, are all still a part of this planet, that we all share…..and together, we are all responsible for the love she needs………….

    1. The flowers are called Blue Statice, from the group limonium… they are hardy and enjoy our dry conditions (hence my photo choice), and they’re in my courtyard garden…..
My poem was a bit jumbled, but I’m trying to say that no matter our circumstances, we are all still an important part of this planet, we all walk the same earth, breath the same air, therefore we are all responsible for our planet’s care…. “no excuses”….” join the human chain, and throw water on the flames”… and I’m using “the flames” in a very all round general term…. like earth, wind and fire…… and yes all of this was inspired by our heartfelt tears and conversation/chat yesterday morning, and these words are the ones that evolved from our joint compassion for our planet…….. my sore mind(my headaches have flared up again) wasn’t going to rest until I’d constructed something worth while…. wow… I hope that explains all my crazy thoughts, that go on inside my head while I’m having breakfast !!!

      1. Oh, I’m so glad our tears and our chat inspired this amazing and very important poem!
Yes…I so agree with, and understand, what you’ve shared!
Wish everyone on the planet agreed with us! πŸ™‚
I am so sorry to hear about your headaches flaring up! 😦 That makes me so sad. I’m worried about you. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for healing and good health. (((HUGS)))

      2. Good morning Carolyn, I’ve just woken up, and resting here in bed,… It’s 7.40am, and I’ve had good sleep
Through my window the sun is shining and that makes me smile
I see the “courtyard of dreams” glowing and growing outside.
Except for the headache, I’m ok, although battling with the headache is tiring, like battling and pushing into a strong wind all day.
I’ll probably rest out in my courtyard most of the day, do some writing watching my little world soothing my soul
It’s thoroughly relaxing place for me
I’ve a lot of lvor quotes and comments, stored in my phone notebook
I’ll do a post about them, haha I won’t have to do any thinking.
It’s hard for me to stop the wheels from turning, but I’ve got my sound system from my computer hooked up to my courtyard speakers, oh what bliss
I’ve collected a playlist of Leonard Cohen’s new songs, there’s 9 of them so far that I’ve found I’ll attach playlist here for you ((hugs)) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL676Af4EFlsoIjpDZJHZ4BK05ezPnlL0U
I’ve never tried to send one of my playlists on the phone, please let me know if it works for you xxxxπŸ’™πŸ’™πŸŒπŸ’™πŸ’™πŸŒ
