A Midday Mirage
I was leaning on my thoughts today
They buckled under the coffee tray
Even in the hands of the sun’s gloss
The dark envelops my minds moss
My heavy head collapsed at midday
Whereupon, closed eyes saw her bravery
Again I am witnessing the uncommon
Visualising beyond my daydreams canyon
There, a piece of my heart I had lost
Being cradled in the arms of her southern cross
A sparkling star from earth’s diamond mines
She a flawed jewel, eternally shines

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Your imagination seems to continue working even during those midday naps. Nice dream, Ivor. 🙂

Wow! My neck of the woods has had a cold and foggy week at -2° some days, but today it is much milder and has actually reached 6°. I can live with this temperature. 🙂

I couldn’t live in – 2′ … but today has been unusually hot…. especially for December, I think our December record has been passed….

-2° is not too bad, central heating indoors plus my kitchen log burner, and dressing in a warm coat and gloves when I go outside. I can’t handle icy underfoot though.
It’s far colder in Canada, right now where Gerry lives it’s -6° but last week it was -14° and it will get far colder before winter is over.

10.00 pm, now, and time for to go to sleep, still 38’C, looks like I’m in for a hot night and I’ll have to leave the air-con on, wow… I’m still getting tired very early, but I’m gradually improving, 💙🌏🎄

Just beatiful Ivor. I was reading in Stephanie Dowrick’s book on Rilke today that the best poetry comes out of day or waking dreams and this one tinged with the memories and love for Carol just shines like a diamond. ❤

Beautiful poetry I love the way you slip into dreams of your wife and how she was so graceful in enduring the MS. When life seems tough for you she slides into your focus to remind you to allow the Grace come through. The video was very poignant let go of all the commercial rubbish it takes us nowhere, paper-pushing produces nothing. We need reality, survival, sustance. We cannot eat procedures and protocols. Wishing you a Blessed Christmas and Happy Successful New Year, filled with more wonderous poems for us.

Happy to read and comment; I think the ending is quite good. A note of the beauty of imperfection.
