Last night I attended the lowercase’s monthly poetry recital event. The theme was “On The Bus”, and here’s a link to the poem I read out >>https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2019/02/22/sorry-we-caught-the-wrong-bus/ . After the show, as is usual for me, I ventured across the road, to Pistol Pete’s Blues bar, for my dose of live music. And wow, what a fabulous band happened to be performing. From Germany, “Hanne Kah”, and I’ve attached two songs of their’s below. As you might know, Ivor likes to have a chat, and Hanne and her band were a very friendly crew, and were happy to have some photos taken with me….. Oh, what a treat for me, and of course I gave them my poetry card, and bought a CD and T-shirt…… Then I stumbled home, and drafted this poem, which I finished this morning…… It’s probably a bit jumbled, but I say to myself…so-be-it….
Torn Dust In My Lungs
Late in the afternoon, the moon is rising
Not the normal moon, silver and shining
But a colour of yellow mustard custard icing
Through the evenings smokey maze, dimly glowing
These foolish fires, have been merciless
They’ve torn apart our virgin land
Dusty embers in the sky, leftover evidence
Torn from what was once beautiful and pristine
Hanne Kah’s CD “Y”, and you’ll find them at this Link >> https://www.facebook.com/hannekahband/
Appropriately I’m playing this song of Hanne Kah’s, “Dust In My Lungs”
Ivor Steven (c) Jan 2020

Getting out and about helps Ivor. I do believe after a long long time we need diversions from grief. I know it never leaves us but we need connections most of all. I am glad you found that. I struggle to find ways to connect. I want to do more of it myself this year, if I can.

Yes Deb, having diversions is good for the, and look forward to organised outings……
Here’s another beautiful song from Hanne, and to think I had the good fortune to see her live last night, oh, what fabulous treat….

I don’t know if its any consolation either but so many people on the empath page I follow have been saying they have been crying and crying lately. There are sad things going on. Its why we must stay so close to love.

I’ve been crying heaps lately, mainly due to that my compassion for our nations present plight, doesn’t have a stop button, and Carole broke my tear ducts beyond repair….. xxxx

I think its part of being highly empathic Ivor plus you are missing Carole.. so its perfectly understandable. New losses spark the depth of old ones. Its just natural. ❤

I’m seeing new initiatives daily from around the world to help Australia. That is encouraging. It’s wonderful to hear the music and poetry still flowing from Australia.

Thank you Colleen, and the Hanne Kah were performing at a concert tonight,
at Bulli NSW, in aid of the bushfire victims. That was really good of them, they’re only been in Australia a week.

She has a beautiful, natural voice, doesn’t she. I really like the song “Rain.”
Such beauty (music) and such sadness (poem). What a contrast. I’m sure these fires must be breaking your heart… {{{Ivor}}}

I’m so glad you had the chance to sit back and chill. I know those fires have to be stressing everyone like crazy. That’s lovely that the band is doing that. I hope the event makes tons of money!
