Kelly’s Smile

Kelly’s Smile

A balmy Autumn evening

And poet’s words are unveiling

Over twenty wordsmith recitals

Here within the poetry group’s citadel

Black Veil, White Veil, is the allotted theme

A topic of intriguing extremes

Encouraging opposing moonbeams

From the writers imaginative dreams

After the entertaining poetry event

I stroll across to the music bar I frequent

And I hear a singer’s voice extraordinaire

Kelly has a genuine smile, and is a storyteller with flare

Eventually my exciting night, becomes tired embers

And I meet up with fellow poetry group members

The friendly Jeff and Stephanie and there’s happy hugs all-round

Kindly they offer me a lift, and I’m homeward bound

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. The photos, your poem, Kelly’s voice AND Kelly’s smile brought a smile to my face! Thank you, Ivor!

    1. Yeah.. I had a great evening… but I’m very tired today, I’m lucky they happen once a month… I do enjoy myself so much, the fellow poets at the event are so kind to me, and the young ones are so appreciative of my poems, and then afterwards meeting Kelly was a real buzz for me, and we exchanged emails, and wants to read my poems… she’s so humble and down to earth.. You’d love her. I was very sluggish when I wrote the poem this morning, “is it OK”, because I was thinking of mailing it to Kelly 💙🌏🎶

      1. Yes Nanette…. I’ve been tired for 2 days afterwards, but the evening of meeting up with all of the kind and generous people was well worth the effort
