I stood beside the librarian, and didn’t know why she was crying
My poetry group’s Sunday meeting was cancelled this morning
I had last night’s dreams in my hand, as a readable draft
They were soulful words that needed to leave my heart
But my poet’s notebook remained virally unread
I was left segregated, and even the church-mouse had fled
Next morning, during the dawn’s half light
I lay there half awake, recalling my other half’s restless night
By then the evening tears had cleansed my misty sight
And washed the dusty notebook pages back to white
Alive again, my 2B pencil had begun to rewrite
About my dreams of life’s old wrongs and future plights
Ivor Steven (c) March 2020

Poignant. Hope people and church move will come back.

I’m dumbfounded by the selfish and greedy actions of some people, they are disgusting and degrading….. one would hope they are donating their some of their stockpiles to the disabled and the elderly, that re not able to do any bulk shopping ?????

I don’t think so but let give them the benefit of doubt.

A disappointment for you.
I hope the meetings are able to begin again soon.

I know you enjoy your reading get togethers/poetry nights. Hopefully calm will prevail and you will soon return to those gatherings. And I agree about the hoarders who stockpiled to make a profit in time of crisis. There are two brothers here who were caught, with 17,000 bottles of hand sanitizer. I think actions are coming. But they aren’t allowed to sell them.

Yes things are tougher for ones that need help the most….. It saddens me…..
My cousin’s had her trip cancelled…. but she’ll have another go in Sept/Oct….
Stay well Colleen…..xx

I know. So many people who planned, saved and hoped for years have had their plans dashed. I hope we can all pull together and do our best to heal. Such sorrow for those already lost, and hope for those affected.
We have a trip planned in September. I’m hopeful but we just don’t know.

Yes It’s hard to plan things at the moment… but the flowers will grow again
The Outlook
Dawn reveals a brilliant red plume
The Day Lily’s last bloom
Slowly opening to a predicted gloom
Casting a final shadow of colour in my room
In life I know nature’s not the carrier of doom
And next year they’ll be more flowers from her womb

glad you understand it’s all temporary .. plaintive song … me neither 🙂

Of course it’s temporary, and if there was no panic buying, there might even be enough left for the disabled, elderly, and the poor… Downright disgusting and selfish non humans

their greed and fear will lower their immune systems and my guess is that they will be most affected … we attract what we dread!

Like the virus Gina, it’s a temporary thing…. I’ve been out visiting today, my friend Maree, (she introduced me to Carole), she’s had a hip replacement operation, and is home now… went down and helped her out today,.. and a chat and a cake.. 💙🌏🙄

Aw, a disappointment for sure. 😦 But, hopefully things will be back to normal very soon. 🙂
Keep letting your heart share and your pencil write! We all need ways to share what we are thinking and feeling.
We will help each other get through this in any ways we can!
(((HUGS))) 🙂 and ❤
PS…Have you heard if Maureen can come to visit? If not, she can reschedule when things are safer.

Hi Carolyn, Maureen has had to cancel her visit, because international visitors have to spend 2 weeks in self-isolation, before they are allowed to go anywhere. Hopefully she’s looking at October to visit…

Thanks for the vote of confidence Wendi… I struggle to comprehend the worth of my work, it’s hard to be objective about one’s own pieces… 💙🌏
