An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Shangri La
On “Weekly Prompts” the word: Desolate, is the weekend challenge. Please go over and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> HERE… Below is my response to the their prompt.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Ivor, it’s a pity you don’t live in the UK and near to me, I could share my stockpile of gifts of red wine!
I’m thinking of taking up juggling again, I spent my childhood mastering the art! These days I doubt if I could catch one ball without dropping it! π
They were truly the best, they were way ahead of their time. And here l am watching their live show from Glastonbury 2010, a BBC production, so it’s tops ππΆπ
This is wonderfully written, Ivor! π We can all relate to it! You HAVE captured how we all feel.
Hey, we can still play Solitaire. π

We are so very grateful to have a safe comfortable home during this self-isolation. I keep thinking of those who don’t have a safe place to self-isolate. π¦

PS…GREAT books in your photo!!!

It’s was a delight for me to write Gina… I was struggling for a title, so then I started on my song search and found the Shangri La song by the Kinks….wow what a title, and what wonderful lyrics for my poem….xx
its been great! amazing thunderstorm as you know. and kids cooked so I had lots of rest time, reading and enjoying my local poetry and book club meets online. i am off this weekend so really taking it easy. how about you?
last night our poetry group explored Bob Dylan music and the wonderful lyrics of Simon and Garfunkle. We had a hoot! Some friends joining in from India and the Middle East too.
We got a little carried away well till midnight but was lots of fun.
