An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Feel The River Flow
This time last year I was in Philadelphia, visiting my cousins and their families (their children & grand-children), and enjoying the “time of my life”
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

My sister and mother live just outside Philly. It is a city of contrasts with so much history and yet so much newness! I hope you get to visit again soon!
your poem has joy, longing, a little sadness but so much love, now isn’t that exactly who you are. beautiful words to remember a beautiful experience with amazing loved ones.
Thank you dear Gina…. yes .. a poem full of lovely memories…. I actually wrote the words in the front seat of, cousin Maureen’s car…. It was pouring rain…. and she was worried about trying to entertain me for the day….. and of course I said anywhere is a delight…. I said it’s only wet between the car and the next welcoming front door….. xxx
Today is a lovely winter’s day, sunshine and no wind…..and your complement have enriched my day….soon I’ll walking down to Martin’s house for at late afternoon get together…. we are now allowed to meet up in groups of 4….so we’ll have a few drinks and a chat, and then I’ll get the bus home……. I’m forward to our little gathering….
hope you had a great time at Martin’s and he and family are doing well. nice to be able to meet face to face. did you boys do trivia again or just chat? hope you are having a slower week and more restful Ivor. take care my dear friend
Yes,… we are continuing with a bit of of trivia…. here’s one of the tricky questions for you
– Which ‘one’ word can fill both gaps –
My __________ is __________ than my wallet
It does not seem that a whole year has passed.
Just read your reply to Gina. We’re now allowed to meet up with one person at a time in the outdoors while still observing social distancing. We cannot meet indoors. Love that poem, Ivor π
Beautiful poem that captured your beautiful time in PA! π
I’m so very glad you got to spend time with your family there! I hope you can travel there again someday…or they can come to visit you! That would be so wonderful! π
But the important thing is…you all made beautiful memories and will be a close part of each others lives from now on. π
(((HUGS))) π
PS…How are you doing today?
Thank you Carolyn, I’ve had a lovely Sunday.,, and it’s been one of those brilliant Autumn sunny days… And now we are allowed to have gatherings of 4 people… so we’re having happy hour at one of my mates places… πππ
Thanks Kate… I’m home now, and I’ve had a lovely day…. going to bed to watch ‘iview’.. probably a couple of ‘Death in Paradise’ episodes… … some nice easy watching….xx
