My stomachs rumbling
Upset and tumbling
I’ve been swallowing lumps of dark chocolate
And guzzling black coffee from stained goblets
The grey smokey clouds of yesterday
Have stuck around like muddy brown clay
Has this captain midnight moved into stay?
Will charcoal pencils write about peace today?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

I love the poem and I love the way you write with pen and paper first. I find my words begin to flow when my fingers type; the iPad, where so many of my ideas are written or recorded first just doesnβt have the same effect as a computer keyboard. π

Yes Sue, I always hand write my poems (mostly in pencil) before I type them into my computer, I think it gives me more feel to my thoughts and words….. or maybe I’m just old fashioned… xxx

I entirely agree with you, it’s exactly the same thing with me and the keyboard, the movement of your fingers stimulate the brain. I once read something about it but cannot remember all the details. π

Keep doing what you must, Ivor, to get through the day, and night. Chocolate is an excellent choice! π
I think we all have had the rumbly-tummy, the busy-worried-mind, and the tumbling sleepless nights. π¦ Especially lately.
Keep sharpening those pencils so you can keep writing about peace and everything else that needs to come forth from your amazing mind and your beautiful heart!

PS…some chocolate bars for you…

Chocolate used to be my thing to eat when feeling irritable and coffee to soothe the tension within. Munching lumps of chocolate the bar would vanish in a trice. Bless enjoy self-indulgence.

Coffee and chocolates used to be a weight loss thing back in the day. I mean… WAY back … and all it did was jolt your metabolism with all that sugar and caffeine. I hope you contemplated early in the day….
