hello world, do you see my frown?
will the blizzards ever calm down?
will the rains ever soften the ground?
will the tears of silence be the only sound?
the frozen wounds are deep
the mountains of snow are steep
humans need to stop being cold sheep
and begin taking their own individual leaps
the rewards of being nice
far outweigh this world of ice

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Winter is beautiful, but I don’t miss being cold! Keep warm, Ivor, and keep writing your warm and wonderful poems! You always encourage people to become better human beings.

Thank you Cheryl… and my poem is more of a metaphorical view of the worlds problems…. It’s not overly cold in Geelong …it’ll be 12’C here today…

My poem’s a chilly metaphorical look at the coldness within our societies at the moment…. and the lone lighthouse encircled by the rocks, evoked my thoughts…

You have the warmest heart and smile. I like the combo of polar bears and cold sheep it evokes such amazing contrasts. Unkindness is lukewarm to me.

What a coincidence itβs 12Β° here too this morning, during our summer!
Another coincidence is Iβve also had Internet problems due to a lightning strike during a thunderstorm. π

Glad to hear it. Mine needed some internal wiring replacing due to the lightning damage to a TV Ariel that travelled down the line to the telephone point. Each room is wired together for TV, phone and internet.

Oh, I have all my own rooms wired up not just at the family’s side.
Kitchen/living room, both bedrooms and upstairs sitting room. I future-proofed during the renovations as it gave me the opportunity to hide all the wiring within walls and under floors. π

Aw and Ah! π This is timely and powerful poem, Ivor!
“the rewards of being nice
far outweigh this world of ice”
So true!
I hope with love, teaching, positive actions and words, etc., we can help to thaw/defrost those cold-hearted people. Even if there are some people that cannot be thawed…we will still continue to be nice and do the right things. π
Know that you, and your words, always warm us, Ivor. And remind us to be the good the world needs! π
(((HUGS))) π
PS….the little polar bear is a cutie…and the music magical!

Thank you Carolyn…. yes another all-round post that worked well for me….. sometimes it chills me to the bone…. seeing how cold-hearted some people can be….. but we must keep trying to thaw them out (Somehow)
((hugs))… oh the Polar was a pic’ from my Calendar (July)… called ‘Animal Inspirations’ and the July’s quote is… “You have to risk going too far to discover just how far you can really go” –Jim Rohn…. ππ

I love winter. I think I am part polar bear. Though what I love about it is the cozy, stay warm and love the view. I do love playing in snow but we never have enough any more to play in!!!!

Thank you, a poem inspired by the “polar bear image” which is a pic’ from my Calendar for July… and there I was looking at this lovely Calendar photo, and these words flowed… πππ

Oh yes! I can totally understand this. I often see an inspiring photo which leads me to muse poetical. But there is a long queue of other verses brimming over ready to be written. So unless I were to Iive another 837 years I doubt the pic ones will ever see the light of day….so it’s a good job you’ve taken it open yourself to take up the mantle and waxed lyrical!!!! ππβ€β€β€
