Ocean Spirit

Dawn sunshine awakens my weary bones

And I hear the early birds are singing

About my day’s visions of flying towards home

Then I remember the tune and start humming

As the windless sky beckons my ocean spirit

It’s time to travel beyond these noisy urban alarms

Sit upon cool sand, and listen to the waves lyrics

Rhythmically roll into my waiting arms

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. AW! A perfect trio of photo, poem, and song, Ivor! So beautiful, so calming!
The ocean…a great place to escape life’s burdens…fun to go to the ocean, but, also, nice to escape there in our minds. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Kim, I basically spent most of my youth at the beach, so be emotional about the ocean is spiritually easy for me to write about.. πŸ’™πŸŒ
