My dream was falling backwards
The stars were flying outwards
My thoughts are looking upwards
As I hear the mourning blackbird
He’s singing about a deadly virus attack
And how we’re to overcome this unearthly hazard
“You’re to seek guidance from our masters
The solar rulers have witnessed your disasters”
The sun frowns, and sighs to the moon
We must save the earth from gloom
There’s no need for us to whisper
It’s time to dissolve the covid’s dirty blister

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Powerful and so important, Ivor!
We must keep flying during these oppressive and overwhelming days!

PS…I’ve always loved blackbirds….the ones I’ve observed are so intelligent. Love the song you shared! And now I’m, also, thinking of The Beatles Blackbird and Cat Steven’s Morning Has Broken. 🙂

The point to my line there is that ‘Blackbirds’ sing happy songs, but here I have them mourning…..
And that means we are in a sad situation dear Carolyn… xx

I understand. Birds and animals and nature do mourn. 😦
Yes, the situation is VERY sad…but I’m trying to find the positive as often as I can…if I don’t I might “drown” in the overwhelmingness of these sad days. 😦
We see blackbirds on our walks and often they talk to us. 🙂

I’m awake, and the moon is still with me, and I see daylight creeping into my courtyard, so that’s a positive start to my day…. 🌞🌙
Had some funny dreams last night (again)… but I’m a funny sort of guy…. 😀😎
Today is the start of another 6 week ‘Lockdown’….. I’ve thoughts in this mind…. a pencil in my hand…. a my heart can feel some lines…..

I love Cooper-kisses…..
every day there’s a new sunrise
every day there’s a new surprise
as I look at every day with fresh eyes
I don’t always see blue skies
I don’t always feel happy and wise
Today I’m a bronze statue in Levis’
And I’ll be satisfied with third prize

Your first line speaks volumes, Ivor. I believe many feel our dreams are falling backward. 😌
