Hidden Irritations

Splinters under the skin

Little wounds so thin

Do solemnly sting

And the crying children sing

For a tiny piece of loving

“Mom”, please remove this thing

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Aw. 😦 Yes, we all have those splinters irritating, hurting…wondering when they will leave and we can find some comfort and healing for our emotional wounds. I especially think of the little ones who can’t fully understand the what, why, and when of what is going on. 😦

Love that song/vid… and their voices…
“Compromised by changing tides, the ship has left its course
Seeking for a distant light to guide us back to port
Is there any simple way for us to go?
Tangled up in emotion, swaying back and forth
    Can you pull me in?
    Back to shore again”

    More HUGS!!!

      1. When I was growing up I remember things that impacted my feelings such as the Cold War and Polio and other events during my time. So, I’m sure children will be affected by the pandemic.
