Over on Weekly Prompts, the Wednesday Challenge is Button Jars. Please go over and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> Here. And the poem below is my response to the prompt.

Ribbons and Buttons
Reclining in my verandah chair
I notice my blue shirt needs repair
And I search for her sewing box of needles and cotton
Looking for a few shiny buttons
There between memories of pink and white ribbons
In a basket full of trinkets, not to be forgotten
Here inside my private cube
I’m a cool Mr Fix-it dude
Or so I was secretly told
By a girl who came in from the cold
Her greeting did warm my soul
Me, a lonesome old stray
Smiled, and come what may
I proudly donned the blue shirt for today
Ivor Steven (c) Sept 2020

This is so heartfelt, Ivor, plus it sounds like a tribute to “her.” The “her” in your poem did it for me, I don’t know why such a simple three letter word could weigh so much.

A sunny spring day, I’ll catch a bus to the Box Office cafe later this afternoon, then walk to the pub at 5.00pm, for a Thursday evening catch-up with the lads… π»π

A little box full of magic and memories you did yourself proud mending your shirt. So easy to leave them waiting but once redone can wear with pride. Bless you.

Wonderful! Poem and photos! You nailed the prompt! π Or should I say sewed-up the prompt! π π Just looking at what was in Carole’s sewing box got me teary-eyed. π She has memories in there. π
