From here in Australia, I’ve been reading the stories about Mr Trump and his having contracted the ‘Covid’ virus this week, and his subsequent “miraculous/cure” recovery…. which seemed to remind me of this poem I wrote back in October 2017
Not Here nor There
My time is slowly passing.
Age is creeping, not lasting.
I’m frail and growing older.
My body shivers when it’s colder.
And sweats like hell, in the heat.
My mind is feeble and weak.
I don’t seem to remember.
Whether it’s March, April, or September.
Here I sit, what am I doing.
There I look, where am I going.
There I ask, what’s for tea dear.
Oh, I forgot, she’s not here.
Well best I retire to bed.
Wrest this weary head.
Under a linen sheet, like a white hood.
And lie here, on this piece of driftwood.
Ivor Steven (c) October 2017

Sending hugs.. this is a lovely poem Ivor… so lovely.

Wonderful poem, Ivor. Beautiful and relatable. Trump, on the other hand, brings on dispepsia on a daily basis. He has the nerve, after receiving treatments not available to most people, to tell the public not to fear coronavirus. 210,000 people have died in the US, largely due to his mishandling of the pandemic! And now, 34 of his staff are sick because precautions were not followed at the White House! And, probably still contagious, he refuses a virtual debte!
I didn’t mean to complain… Ivor made me do it! π Have a great day! Cheryl

You are understandably allowed to complain Cheryl…. way over here in Australia his deceitful ways are despicable
And thank you for your lovely comments for my poem..ππ

Reagan was called the Teflon President yet only had to bear a fraction of the flack that has been thrown at President Trump. I personally believe that Trump is the right man for the times – even the CCP virus couldn’t take him down.

OK, Ivor, you better hope he does not see this poem, lol.
Jokes aside, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your honesty about age: it’s a thing we will all go through at some point in life, but to read the emotions and vulnerability (and I say mean this in the most nicest and human way). You are not only Sharing, you are reminding us of what will come and how to best deal with it.
I pray your health is better, and that you keep writing my friend.
Sty safe, and be blessed.

Yes. My kids live where their careers took them…so they are a 24+ hour drive, or a plane trip, away. And my siblings, nieces, nephews, etc. are too far away, too. The closest sibling is a 4+ hour drive away. π¦
Then Covid19 has complicated all of the traveling, etc.
But we keep in touch on Skype, Zoom, texting, phone calls, etc. π And I’m so glad all of my kids have great careers, great health insurance, etc. π
