John’s Words Were Not Wrong

Fifty years have flown bye

And I’ll never forget ‘American Pie’

It’s True, old rockers never die

Their music shall always fly

There above in Leonard’s Tower of Song

Where they are all singing along

Imagining John’s words were not wrong

Will our new lyrics be as strong?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. One of my fav songs!
    And your poem is brilliant!
You ask such an important question, Ivor.
I think Mr. Lennon would be sad to find out how the world has not changed much since his passing…and in some ways the world is taking steps backwards. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ His words were so wise, so right on, so needed. Quite the poet was he. ๐Ÿ™‚
    HUGS!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
