A Planter Box

A big thank you to Dwight Roth, for providing me with the inspiration to write this post today… here’s his fabulous haiku from earlier today ..

When life overwhelms

Focus on what’s important

Nature’s beauty calls”

A Planter Box

I’ve been busy gardening

Soulfully so relaxing

And I’ve built a planter box

Out of leftover roof stocks

Large enough for cucumber seedlings

Their dream home for the warm season

Fertile soil and nurturing watering

To Produce a harvest worth devouring

Ten weeks away my first feast

Enough to feed the kids from the east

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. such a pleasing and inspiring post in many ways Ivor!

Love your poem and gardening is obviously good therapy for you … that vertical hanger with the succulents is something I’d like to try 🙂
And Enya are all time favs … what a great way to showcase some of my fav pics 🙂

      1. How lovely would that be? I tried a little tub garden this year. I only tried carrots (I only got 1, very small carrot), radishes (I got a few) and late beans of which I got a ‘few’ but I really only planted them to see if they would grow. Next year I may try the cucumbers. I can’t wait to see how yours do.
