G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Nice one, Ivor. This yea I’m trying to get into shape.
“I’m surviving.” “Ready for next year’s great escape” This quote from the song and last line from your poem pretty much sum up the end of 2020. Yes, we are “battered,” but we have many hopes for the new year. 🙂
My older daughter has covid19 and has symptoms like a cold with fatigue. My younger daughter and their two roommates are under quarantine with her until Christmas day. My son will be moving into his new apartment on January 4. I look forward to the end of the pandemic and marriage. Donald Trump, though he will not go quietly, will soon be
gone, and things hopefully will improve on that front. 🙂
Yes Cheryl, we are all looking forward to a better year,
I hope your family recover well, and things in general settle down soon..
Thank you for appreciating the depth of my poem.. 💙🌏😊🎅
Here you are… 🙂
Your poem is great, Ivor. The rhymes, the flow, the message…the emotion…so relatable.
Wonderful vid/song…her voice is beautiful.
Yes, we keep surviving…and we throw in some thriving each day. We are battered, but not broken…we cling on to bravery. 🙂
I think we will all get issued new SuperPeople capes next year! 😉 😀
HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…wow on that limo in the photo…be it a Hummer Limo?!?! 🙂
PS, again…your poem reminds me of a quote…not sure who said it…
“Don’t be ashamed of your scars. They are a reminder that you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you.”
Thank you Carolyn, sorry I’m late replying, I’ve been working/plumbing today.. Haha, I’m not in good shape..
but l’ve just finished “phew”… I’ll get to the Box Office Café, and reward myself.. I’m so pleased you comprehended my poem… and Kaz Hawkins is always great to listening..((hugs))
I like the sentiment of putting on your superhero capes even if you are not in shipshape – I can totally relate to that, it’s definitely something that I do as a mom every day! I would love to relate to drinking too many red grapes, but alas….😂 There is so much hope in your last lines here, Ivor – can’t wait to unlock that gate!

that’s what this year was, for all of us, because of the outbreaks of MERS-CoV, we are, restricted from coming and going as we please…
