“Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to be like and enjoying it for everything that it is” — Mandy Hale
Let The Past Be Gone (Revised)
The end of December, and January is near
The bell tolls louder and how perennially I jeer
Those same old questions and no answers every year
Annually dismayed as old dawns disappear
Let the past be gone, now that todayβs here
Let the future come, as I face tomorrows haunting fears
Last years sins have been but not totally gone
The new yearβs about to begin, could be right or wrong
Next yearβs eeriely hovering and I anxiously worry far too long
Knowingly waiting for my angels mourning song
“Let the past be gone.” declared todays final word
Let the future come, but tomorrowβs crying, I heard!
Ivor Steven (c) January 1st 2021

I’m at the point in my life I just to enjoy each day to its fullest – as if it will be the last day of my life – while still looking forward to better days ahead.

Love that quote!
Love your poem!
And always a good way to start the day…with Mr. Cohen!
Taking one day at a time, with an attitude of gratitude, and finding the joys. π

Thank you Carolyn, another older poem that altered a bit, and like the changes.. Originally written when I knew it was going to be Carole’s last new year… π.. Hopefully it reads ok now.. ((hugs & kisses)).. these older emotional poems still shake my heart strings ππ€

To know that adds a new perspective to your words.
It reads beautifully. It’s okay to have our heartstrings shaken.
Carole is smiling on you today, as she does every day.

Thanks Carolyn,… I’ve a new poem I’m about to post, …about the aftershock of being back home alone, after so much loving company during this Christmas week πππ

I was sad to see Gina’s (alifelesslived) recent blog post saying goodbye. π¦
I will miss her and her beautiful words.
I hope she is okay.

I’m sure she is ok Carolyn, although I’ve not spoken to her for a week, but she put some likes on my poems at my Instagram site last night…. I’ll look her up on ‘Messenger’ later… it’s still very early Sunday morning for her….xx

Can’t linger long in the past — we can’t change it anyway. But we sure can take our blessings from it and apply them to today and tomorrow!
