A Mist Of Summer Kisses

My heart was pulsating

Like a child’s first day at the beach

Excitedly wide eyed, a wondrous sight

A vast seaside water world

My lips tasted the sea air

My hips plunged into refreshing salt water

The waves were not too steep

The ocean was not too deep

I’m almost alive

I’m almost at home

Here at the Ocean Grove beach

Here in ecstasy, sun, sand and surf

The place where friends meet

The home of Tullawalla

The house where imagination began

The universe of my creative waves

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. My happiest day for quite a while Colleen, I’ve not been allowed to go to beach for a swim. So after 20 months away from my favourite venue, yesterday was a great day. And to make the day even better, I met up with Maree on the beach, (our lovely friend who introduced me to Carole), and she’s a beach lover like me. 🏖️🌏💙

    Your poem says it all so beautifully!

    I find the beach so healing! We used to live 7 miles from The Pacific. 🙂 We spent a lot of time at the beach.

  13. The beach is in our blood it runs deep. Australia has a vast diverse terrain which draws on the very soul within us. The wisdom and fulfilment floods into our being if we allow it. Bless you Ivor enjoy your beach times they are so healing.
