Today I am presenting the second ‘5min’ poem that I wrote during Ali Grimsham’s ‘Writing Circle’ Zoom meeting I attended on Monday. Here is the page link to get more information about the next writing circle. https://flashlightbatteries.blog/online-writing-circles/ Tickets by donation. All are welcome.
I Have Been Here Before
do I need to be anywhere else
but be near the oceanβs caressing waves
where my heart feels complete
with warm sand between my toes
and a cool breeze to tingle my bones
as the sea salt dries on my skin
for now. βI am almost aliveβ *
here. βI am almost at homeβ *
away from lifeβs plastic chrome
** these words, βI am almost aliveβ and. βI am almost at homeβ are from Leonard Cohenβs song, βThe Goalβ
Ivor Steven (c) January 2021

Yes the Ocean Grove surf beach, which was only 500 yards from our family homestead ‘Tullawalla’

seriously you lived that close to the action, how wondrous!

Yep… I’m a beach bum… originally Tullawalla was the families holiday shack, but my parents sold up in North Geelong, and built a new Tullawalla there on the same site, 55 years ago… ππ

For me it’s been a god send to have my siblings nearby… when I had my stroke 2 years ago, they were fantastic.. πππ

The writing circle mused you to birth another amazing poem! Wowza! π
A wonderful trio…photo, poem (love the connection to Mr. Cohen’s The Goal song), and vid/song!
Everything about the beach/ocean is so healing and joyful! π You’ve expressed this so perfectly!
And when a person can’t be right at the ocean…we have those memories in their mind to take them there! π
(((HUGS))) π
