A Special Poetry Day

Yesterday I had the privilege to attend a book launch day, for fellow local Geelong poet, Jeremy Palmer. To purchase his book, you can contact Jeremy through the following links >> http://www.jeremypalmerpoetry.com >> http://www.instagram.com/jeremypalmerpoetry >> http://www.facebook.com/jeremypalmerpoetry >>

A Special Poetry Day

A balmy Saturday afternoon

At the Analogue Academy commune

I have not been here to this special venue

Since the start of our world’s year of upheaval

I am attending Jeremy Palmer’s book launch

A poetry book aptly named “Poems of Pilgrimage”

The gathering is probably the maximum allowed

And there is friendly conversation buzzing from the crowd

I sense a clear aura of anticipation

As Jeremy’s readings become our minds hydration

His words are full of harmony and imagination

And he invites us into his heart’s instrumentation

And entertaining the mesmerized audience further

We listen to the glorious voice of a local singer

‘Arjuna’ has written a melody to one of his poems

A fitting finale to the day’s poetry emporium

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  3. It is wonderful to read about poetry being celebrated in this way! I have never been to a live poetry event but when the world opens up again it is something I would want to do. Thank you for introducing me to a new poet also!

      1. My first experience of reading poetry live has been for dVerse online. It’s a great introduction because it’s not so nerve-wracking reading a poem online…though it still is a but 😅
