Again it’s that time of the week where I present another ‘5min’ poem that I have written at one of Ali Grimsham’s ‘Writing Circle’ Zoom meetings that I attend on Monday’s, but sadly this was my 5th and final session with the group, and I would like to thank Ali for giving me an opportunity to participate in such a fantastic event … Here is the page link to get more information about the next “writing circle” event. https://flashlightbatteries.blog/online-writing-circles/ Tickets by donation. All are welcome.
Comfortably Numb
I cannot feel the sleet
Numbness finds my feet
I stand alone in the icy rain
Senseless, without pain
I lean against a bitter wind
Coldness wrinkles my skin
I silently cringe and cower
My nakedness needs to be scoured
Ivor Steven (c) Feb 2021

Impressive stuff. Even more so that jt didnt take you long

A vivid, expressive poem, Ivor! ❤ Pairs nicely with the Pink Floyd music. Not sure quite how to take your last line, but it is powerful. Take care!

Yes indeed… After my strokes, I have been left with numbness in my arm and foot, but I suppose I’ve become used to afflictions, and now I am “Comfortably Numb”

Getting a book published is very time consuming and quite tiring for me… at my age… 😀

Funny! But I get the passion you have for creative arts especially poetry. Keep on keeping on. I salute your undying passion Ivor. You are really a personality to reckon with.

A powerful poignant poem, Ivor. Filled with emotion. Does it relate to the strokes?
Your poem is perfectly paired with the song.
Your photo makes me feel hope and gives me a “hang on, the sun will burst forth again” vibe! 🙂
(((HUGS))) 🙂

Yes related to my strokes…, I am numb in my foot and arm, and I manage to cope ok, so you could say I am ‘comfortably numb’… Yeah for Pink Floyd’s music, their songs are ageless…. Oh I love that photo, one of my sunrise pic’s from my Pacific Cruise 🌅🌏💙

Great song and great response to it, Hobbo! I listened to this song a lot when I was sleep deprived with a newborn baby. Comfortably numb indeed!

I am SO sorry Ivor, I am fully aware you are not Hobbo! I was trying to reply to two comments at once and my brain is a bit comfortably numb at the moment 🤯

It’s time!
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven ~ Ecclesiastes –
And for you Ivor it’s time to take a well-earned rest. 🙂
Enjoy the song – written by Pete Seeger in the late 1950s and released in the 60s.
