I think I have given you all enough sneak preview poems from my ‘Book’, so over the next few weeks I’ll be presenting some of my poems that nearly made their appearance in “Tullawalla”, and ironically Disappointments didn’t make the cut…
Disappointments
Life is full of disappointments
Of our physical and mental laments
There is the disgruntled type
When we are stood down
Years of loyalty all for naught
Leaving you downcast and distraught
There is the disheartened letdown
When we are stood-up again
Yesterday’s promise, today’s voiceless ghost
Leaving you an empty chair and sadly aghast
There is the frustrated fiasco
When we are stood upon
Months of being a washout and a physical mess
Leaving your body punished and almost useless
Dismayed and in disarray
When we are misunderstood
Decades of disenchantment, but undefeated we stay
Knowing we all experience disappointments on life’s causeway
Ivor Steven (c) August 2019

Rightly said. Life is full of disappointments as well. Amazingly you expressed the disappointments. Its okay. Next time. 🙂

I hope this philosophical poem was not disappointed to have been left out! I’m sure one of the hardest things in the editorial process must be ‘making the cut.’

It was a tough process, and it was in the middle ‘lockdown’, so I had do the culling myself.. Haha… I felt a poem murderer.. 😊😔 I think at one stage I had 160 poems, and in the end I culled about 40….

That is fairly brutal but you can always make a new book with the remainder!

If this wonderful poem didn’t make the cut, it makes me wonder how spectacular the survivors may be! Can’t wait to see the book! ❤ Take care, Ivor!

A good word of wisdom. In spite of the disappointments, we still seem to trudge on and out the other side!

I’ve going through my poems that didn’t make the ‘cut’, and my rough notes from when I started selecting poems for my book, suggests that there was 25 poems that were ‘culled’ before I reached my final list…. wow…

Disappointments come and go as part of life’s facade. But they help us grow stronger and build character. Nice poem, Ivor! 😊

Yes, we all do experience them. And we learn from them and move forward to being betterer Human-Beans. 😉 The disappointed feelings only last as long as we let them hang around. 😉 Best to banish them! 😉 😀
Love this poem! Your poems NEVER disappoint, Ivor!!! 🙂
