At the moment I am reading Walt Whitman’s ‘Leaves of Grass and Selected Poems and Prose’ that I borrowed from the Geelong Library, and after reading only 60 pages, I am aready amazed enough to go ahead and purchase a copy for my bookshelf, and his writings motivated me to write the below poem today…

Invisible Why and When
In the midst of my life
I am still using her carving knife
Between here and there
I am still climbing through the air
Between blank lines and my velvet pen
I am still writing about invisible why and when
Between whom I hear and what I see
I am still searching for the olive tree
Between her star and the dark side of the moon
I can still reach the man with a silver spoon
Between her broken mirror and my empty glass
I can still feel the universe in a blade of grass
Ivor Steven (c) April 2021

That’s a beautiful use of reference to WW, Ivor…<3

this is the journey of soul-searching, trying to find out about our selves, and our relationship with everything around us…it’s a never-ending, process that we will always be on.

I am up early this morning listening to the cardinals calling and singing before dawn, and I am reading a lovely poem from one of my favorite poets. The poet writes with an expansive touch of whimsey that connects ordinary objects in life to the sublime and inspiring realm of memories and imagination. Today will be a good day! Thank you, Ivor. β€

A GREAT book by Mr. W.W.!
OH, Ivor! Your poem is wonderful! One of your bestest!
I read it twice…while Sean sang in the background…and tears came to my eyes.
Now I will read it aloud without Sean singing….
Tears still flowing. We all have a journey of the heart and soul…it can be challenging, painful, confusing, etc….but there is beauty, too….so much beauty. β€ π

Thank you Carolyn for your glorious comments, and yes I was totally pleased with my poem .. it went from pen to paper instantly and only took me 10 mins to do , and with a few minor word changes. .. my words were floating on air ππ .. and of course when I was reading it to myself the tears were flowing freely .. and then I had to find a song .. but after searching around I couldnβt go past Sean Roweβs βA Lonely Mazeβ. one of his besties ππ. .. and today Iβll submit it to Spillwords and Vita Brevis ππ
