G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

I feel this. Time is always moving away especially when we donโt want it to. It can be hard to capture a moment as it passes because of it. Very beautifully said and mesmerizing. It resonates with me.
Thank You Lucy, and strangely enough time was not wasted on this piece … my poem was an instant one at the Box Office Cafe .. written in only 10mins ๐๐
Ivor, so relatable! Beautifully written. Love this. โค My to-do lists are almost never fully accomplished, emails overwhelm, dust gathers, never enough energy…life is short! Somehow, I find myself cheerful and contented doing the best I can.
I feel this too, Ivor. I was thinking the other day I wish I could have 2 Fridays this week! Ha! ๐ Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday! ๐ Silly me! ๐
This is a powerful relatable poem with a perfect ending! ๐
I wish for you to enjoy every minute of today! ๐

PS…Thank you so so SO much for sharing THAT song! I needed it today! ๐
Yes I love her voice, and this song ๐ถ suited my poem perfectly ๐ … The piece itself was inspired by Gemma, one of my lovely waitresses at the Box Office Cafe, she was tired from her Saturday night out, was very busy at work, and still had lots of homework to do, and she didnโt know where she going to find the time to be ready by Monday … and I wrote this piece for her .. then and there in 10 mins and gave her a hand written copy. … sheโs a budding musician, and said she would compose a tune for my poem. .. she was so happy that I wrote the words for her …๐๐๐
OHMYGOSH!!! This is SO wonderful, Ivor! ๐
How very kind of you to write this for Gemma!
I know you made her day! How cool that she will put your poem to music! ๐ YAY!!! ๐
Sheโs a bubbly lass. .. one of those who lost her original job due to โCOVIDโ .. she worked at Geelongโs Performing Arts Centre, which are still shut down …๐๐๐ถ
Thank You Ali, It couldโve been written at one of Writing Circle meets, the poem was a 5min instant write for me. … and I read the piece at my Geelong Writers group last night .. and they also liked that stanza. ๐๐
Yes we have started up again, and my poetry is restarting soon too .. and Geelongโs lowercase open Mic night will be resuming also. Life is almost normal again ๐๐

As Iโm getting older, there never seems to be enough time, or probably time is going the same pace and I am slowing down ๐๐๐

Ivor,
I really like this one. Time is so elusive and also such a gift.
This stanza in particular spoke to me,
The hour is now
The hour is how
Between here and then
Beyond why and when
Take care my friend.
