The world is a pool of people, some are sick, some are poor, some want more, and some are at war … The Featured Image Above: by Derrick Knight, and thank you to Derrick for letting me use his photo here …
Horses for Courses
there is something about the freedom of horses
beyond green pastures and steeple courses
there is something about the purity of lifeβs sources
from the snowy mountains down the river courses
there is something about the madness of wartime choices
beyond bloodstained lands of the killing forces
there is something about deathβs silent voices
riding in wooden coffins down the hearseβs brief courses

Yes. There IS something about all of those things, Ivor. A brilliant and timely poem.
And a powerful and poignant trio, Ivor…photo, poem, and song.
Derrick’s beautiful photos are always amazing AND often cause the thoughts and words to flow inm wonderful ways. π I’m so glad he (and you, Ivor, and so many others) put up with my l-o-n-g comments. π ) I love how in that photo the pretty pony and the dear deer are calmly sharing space. π
(((HUGS))) π
PS…that song always makes me weep.
“…And everyone has a heart and it’s calling for something
We’re all so sick and tired of seeing things as they are…”
Nick wrote that song after the horrifying death of his 15 year old son Arthur in 2015. π¦ β€

This started off so full of hope but ended so sadly. Sign of the times I suppose. But there is still a bird pf hope: π

Brilliantly written and poignant, Ivor! Powerful writing. β€
Last night we watched a documentary about the remarkable history of Australia, how Australians fought for independence and became a democracy. I thought of you and that Australian spirit. I wish you all the best in getting this timely poem published! β€
