G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank You Bree … I went bed last night feeling disturbed 😧 … I had flicked through the Media sites … and they were all talking dribble, and smiling into the their cameras, as if nothing was wrong πŸ˜‘!! and I wrote down my sleepless nights thoughts … πŸŒπŸ—ΊπŸ˜‘

    1. Yes Susi … I’m not against these platforms … but they must be treated with thoughtful caution …
And ‘Disturbed’ version is a superb interpretation of Paul Simon’s outstanding lyrics… !!

      1. Oh yes! But don’t worry, I’m sure even if we cross the event horizon, we’ll be radiated back out across the universe as light! 😊

  1. A powerful important poem, Ivor. What you’ve expressed…I feel the same way.

I always hope people will learn from the past/history and/or at least their life experiences…but sadly many never do. And many don’t realize we have to be wise when getting our news, or learning, or etc from the internet. There is much good there…but we have to weed out the not-good.

As I’ve shared before…David Draiman’s version of Sounds of Silence really touches my heart! πŸ™‚

Amazing that Paul Simon wrote the song when he was only 21 years old! A hymn of warning related to resistance, shallowness, selfishness, people’s inability to communicate maturely and from the heart, consumerism, the alienating powers of the media, and so much more. Such a timely song with social meaning still today.
Perfect 2 song choices to join your poem to make an amazing post we need to read and hear! πŸ™‚

    1. I’m just back home from my usual Thursday night out with the boys…. and I open up my computer … and see your lovely and ‘looonnng’ message… i was happy, now I am even “happier” … sorry my comments are a bit tired and slow … but I am in the land of of happy crows…
I am still in awe of Paul Simon’s powerful lyrics .. that have probably formed the foundation of my current thought processes over the years .., for which I am forever grateful…
Cheers & Hugs coming your way… and πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜΄there will be a poem in my dreams tonight ..

    1. Yes Penny. I think the meaning of the lyrics was always there, and his powerful version enhanced the exact importance of Paul Simon’s words, which are amazing πŸ˜„πŸŒπŸ˜Š
