An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Sogginess Sets In
Featured Image Above: Again, a big thank you to Derrick Knight for allowing me to use his fascinating photo of ‘soggy soft toys hanging on a gate’ . Visit his article via this link >> An Arboreal Charnel House – derrickjknight
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Oh how sad! Reminds me of Mother Shipton’s cave where the toys have been hanging so long they have turned to stone 😳
Great photo by Derrick! He captures the most interesting, amazing, and beautiful sights! 🙂
Oh, I know those soggy toys will dry out…they won’t let a bit of sogginess keep them from their adventures! 😉 😀 And I imagine them there bringing smiles to the faces of all who pass by. 🙂
Aw. Your poem is sweet and poignant. But, YOU are not soggy and YOUR book is not soggy. Your words are genuine and important and help to positively transform anyone who reads them.
Oh Derrick’s photos are so interesting 🧐 and of course this appealed to me straight away. and then I came up with a poem that metaphorically cuddled with my book 📖📚🌏🤔
What beautiful reflections here Ivor. I have some soggy toys hangin around.
Thanks for the follow. I’m thrilled and following you. I always enjoy your comments on Ingrid and Dwights page.
Not much fun hanging around on a gate in the rain …. yep … my book is still at the starters gate … waiting .. waiting .. getting getting soggy and shoddy …
And now I am in bed already at 9.00pm.. my tiredness is approaching .. earth, wind, and fire, are now motionless … and the old poet’s notebook is mindless …
Time to read W B Yeats 😄📚
I love this and I love Derrick’s photo of the soggy toys. They looked so sweet when they were first hung. I agree with Ingrid, Mother Shipton’s cave and the petrifying well in my neck of the woods (Knaresborough North Yorkshire) was my first thought when I saw them over on Derrick’s page. 🙂
