Hollow Ice-blocks

Escapism has stopped

The front door is locked

Curtains block out a ghost town

And the ceiling is pushing down

External light has turned brown

Internal white is sacred ground

Staleness fills the air

An empty shadow stains the chair

Stillness falls inside the box

Burdened by invisible chains and locks

And loneliness tastes like hollow ice-blocks

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Very much a piece of fiction Ingrid … I actually wrote a micro fiction prose for a competition .. 100 words .. and out of that prose I created this intriguing poem ..
I’ll email you the prose if you are interested 😄🌏

  2. The picture of the ice cubes is great. We like the minimalistic monochrome style. Well, the poem, nice flowing rhythm except for the last two lines.
    Thanks for sharing
