Throwback Friday, The Rear of Night, by Ivor Steven

Again, I couldn’t get the ‘Go Dog Go Cafe’ site to reblog my post, so, I have copied and pasted my article here …
This morning in Geelong it’s a cold and thick foggy start to the day, and appropriately I have found this piece from exactly 2 years ago

The Rear of Night

My foggy morning, is an inky dye

The heavy mist, has kidnapped my sky

Sabotaging my light, the sun disappeared in front of my eyes

And the rear of night, has been left with no respite

There is no start, nor end to my blurry sight

Breathing in moist air, I gasp, where is the moon?

Has my gloomy forecast, unraveled too soon?

Is this sunless day, the beginning of doom?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Sue. .. I’ve been out all day at my local football club .. it’s been thoroughly enjoyable to get out and about again after our latest 4 week lockdown .. I’m home at 10.00pm so I have over indulged .. but I’m happy that I made the effort to go 🌏😊

      1. The lockdowns are not pleasant when you live alone.

We’ve had such a lot in the last eighteen months, this one began in January but I’ve had Joss for company and since May I’ve been able to spend time with the family too. We’re not completely out of it yet as it’s been a very gradual lifting of restrictions.

Our final phase begins in a couple of weeks, no more wearing of masks or social distancing, but I think that’s a huge mistake.

I hope you continue to stay well Ivor and your lockdowns remain a thing of the past. 🙂

      2. Thank you Sue .. I am definitely no expert. .. governments are just trying to do their best by under these extraordinary circumstances … and who is to know what is the best direction to take … hopefully we will be ok .. but really nobody knows … the whole process is a guessing game 😊🌏🪃😉

      2. the title tugs at the heart Ivor – you’ve put in all the hard work, the book and other stuff will get sorted out soon all the trials of being a published poet. Hope you have lovely dreams of your ITMIMS!
