My poem today is the other poem that I wrote at Ali Grimshaw’s, poetry ‘Writing Circle’ Zoom meeting event on Tuesday.. Once again it was a privilage to be a part of a wonderful gathering of kindred poets. And I thoroughly reccommend Ali’s Writing Circle programs to all interested poets out there, you will not be disappointed if you decide to attend… You may connect with her site via this link >>

I Cannot Remember Aunt’s Name
what do I remember
of yesterday
my memory is softened
and in decay
bouquets and birthdays
have left on Santa’s sleigh
I do recall my sister’s banquet
on Boxing Day
and I am not to delay
a trip to my Aunt in Adelaide

This is beautiful Ivor

My aunt is a pillow
Of long-forgotten snow
My aunt was a foreigner
I was always boring her
Lastly, she left without a trace
She left in a great deal of haste!

lovely and what do names really matter, it’s the feeling another gives us when we recall them … they live on in our hearts forever! Only last night I was looking through similar photos at my childhood picnics by the beach …
these lines resonated with me
“my memory is softened
and in decay”

With that lovely photo to remind you, you will not forget Aunt’s face. A charming nostalgic poem, Ivor. My recall is very slow these days. I have to keep looking at the computer or the atomic clock to remember what day and date it is!
I am so happy you have Frankie to keep you company! Have a great day! ❤

I hate it when I forget in this way because I can’t dismiss it from my mind. Then, in the middle if the night I wake up with a jolt when I suddenly remember the name!

Ops … I still have not remembered her name. An aunt of Carole’s that we stayed with in Adelaide on a number of occasions 😊🤔
