Nurture, Give, and Receive

Nurture, Give, and Receive

It’s a material world

That leaves us in a whirl

What we really need

Is a planet without greed

That needs our minds to proceed

By growing and nurturing her seeds

Then our journey becomes that of the giver

Rather than being nature’s grieving receiver

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Oh wow, this is good, Ivor. I remember you posting a portion of it in the comment section of one of my quotes. It indeed speaks well for the kind of world we live in and the need to be selfless. Insightful!πŸ‘

      1. That’s what I do with my thoughtful comments, I build them into poems .. like my β€˜Odds and Ends’ post on Friday .. a lot of those little verses/anecdotes, would have later ended up in my poems

      3. Sure it does. Keep up the good work. The poems speak so much to our hearts because they come from your heart. πŸ’–πŸ‘

  2. Gorgeous flowers in your photos, Ivor! Gardening is said to be a healthy, calming hobby. I love the poem, a gentle reminder that greed is the source of many of the problems in the world today. I wholeheartedly agree that we need to nurture Mother Nature. ❀
