I Shall Always Remember Her Smile


I must confess

I often wonder what

Would have happened to my world

If I had not met my girl

On our blind date

Forty-seven years ago

I shall always remember her smile

And her, in that purple dress


I must confess

When I knocked on her door

I was nervous and shy

But she offered her hand and smiled

And I instantly melted

I returned her gentle greeting

Cautiously, I leaned forward

And softly kissed her cheek


I must confess

Our togetherness

Was love at first sight

And now, there is no more to write

I shall always remember her smile

And her, in that purple dress

How we met those we are meant to be with, the impressions are, so deep, because of that moment of, connection that we feel toward, one another, and, we work together, to build up our love, our, families together, and, we became, the, fulfillment, of that ‘ til death phrase, of our, wedding vows, to, each, other.
