My poem over on ‘Go Dog Go Cafe’s’ Throwback Friday is “Astronauts to the Rescue” from Novemder 2019

Today’s poem is one I wrote back in November/December 2019, at a time when bushfires were raging across vast areas in every Australian State …
Astronauts to the Resue
The night sky’s hazily stark
Black space debris fills the dark
No bright street globes are in sight
What happened to the starry, starry night?
No faerie lights, nor sparkle dust
Only smoky charring of the earth’s crust
Rescuing astronauts were sent into the atmosphere
They were last seen drifting pass Jupiter
Will they ever stop fighting the desert crusades?
Modern lifeguards are still lying about those charades
Of ravaging the forests, and sinking refugee boats
While Negroes from the Ivory Coast are only eating burnt toast

You’re right, I’m tired of all that, the impact is very big in life.

One of your vivid, amazing, heart-touching poems, Ivor. Sad that it still applies to the world today.
(((HUGS))) ❤️
PS…I tried to “like” your poem at the link and it wouldn’t let me. Not sure what’s up with that. But know that I “traveled” over there to read. 🙂

Thank you Carolyn. .. l appreciate your efforts .. lots vivid metaphorical imagery in this one which was inspired by the astronaut artwork at the “Box Office Cafe “ … as I was having a coffee and cake under the smoky skies 💕🤗🌏🐶 how is Coops going 🐶 woof woof from Frankie 🐶

Thanks for asking about Cooper…he finally has had two good days and seems to be on the mend. One of the meds they gave him added another problem/bad reaction to him/his health, so we took him off the med and things started to get better in that area. Poor little old guy…he had a really rough week.

It did indeed. I remember Sophie and I knitting pouches for Joeys, and by coincidence a friend travelled over just before the outbreak and delivered our pouches to a wildlife hospital. 🙂
