A Soul’s Weary Retreat




Boulders did tumble

Across my gravelly path

Hard stones have bruised my feet


Decades of broken milestones

Did crumble

Into my lonesome creek


But my old waterlogged boots

Kept pounding the cobblestone streets

Defying the weariness of my soul’s retreat

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Carolyn … I am a Weary Writer at the moment … I have been working on my new manuscript “Perceptions” non-stop for the whole week … I think I’ll be finished this morning …✍️📖 .. I’ll email you the manuscript later today … yeah 🤗🌏💕📖📕

      2. Yes … you get on a roll and the words are flowing like a flooding river and cannot stop for fear you’ll lose the plot … finally we hit the the dam wall … yes, I a need to rest for a while .. 🌏🤗😴😉

      3. that’s a hard stage. Sometimes I find the rest can involve going back and figuring out why you started writing the thing in the first place. At least that’s my process. Maybe it’s time for a walk? At least it looks like a nice day coming up – sunny now and that wind has dropped a bit.

And give me feedback? The few who have read it have given mixed reviews. Which I fully understand. 🙂 But you’ve been such a supporter of Yellow Door I would love to send you an early copy.
