An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Wall of Thorns
Another repost while I am laying down with my sore back … written when I had my third stroke, and I was laying in hospital 31st January 2019 …
Apologies to my readers and followers for not blogging and responding to your articles with my usual zest, my debilitating back pain doesnβt allow me to sit at my computer β¦ hopefully the situation will improve soon.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Ivor this simply exquisite – very zen – i love its simple beauty
the best writers are introverts because their words are so expressive – this was one of my favourites, i am no expert but it sits well with my heart – that’s all that matters when reading a poem – well done Ivor!
I’m still feeling devastated, I’ve lots to ponder on the weekend, I’m back in hospital, Monday or Tuesday, hopefully only a day or two, for a lumber puncture…..
Heartfelt haiku, Ivor! I can feel, AND relate to, the daily challenge, fight, and pushing-forward just hoping to get to enjoy the roses. Keep climbing, Ivor! π
How are you doing?
Did you get any results yet?
(((HUGS)))
PS…it wouldn’t let me watch the vid…but I can find it on youtube! π
Not a good result Carolyn, I suffered another minor stroke that I didn’t feel, sometime during the last few weeks., the wall is growing higher….and the thorns are becoming sharper, and the rose-bed feels harder…. ((Hugs))
Oh, no! π¦
I’m so very sorry to hear this, Ivor! π¦
Please know that you are cared about, prayed for, wished well. I want so badly for you to be well and to be able to enjoy roses! I wish I could do away with the wall, and eliminate the thorns, too.
(((HUGS)))
Had a big chat with my psychologist this afternoon, she helped me see the positives of the situationβ¦β¦xx
Itβs another challenge for me, and my rehab support group are being fabulous

So sorry that your health has taken a turn for the worst Ivor! The fact that you can take devastating news and turn it into such a beautiful haiku is testament to your skill as a poet. Buckets of hugs on way xx
Looks like being about 20’C when I get to New York, maybe even warmer if I’m lucky ….. Oh it’s the trip of a lifetime for me…. and so looking forward to seeing my cousins in Philadelphia !!!

Gina it was a haiku that fitted well with my struggles, I was hoping it wasn’t too introverted, and I love your comment.

“Roses definitely comes with thorns, but we will not because of fear for the thorns, run away from roses.”
This is the idea your Haiku brings to my mind Ivor. I so love the way you put it simply.
Sorry about your back pain, I so hope it improves soonest!
