Today’s poem was written in December 2018, I was in hospital at the time, and there seemed no end to my daily pain. Here I am presenting a revised version

Beyond Pain, There is More (a Revised Poem)

It’s eleven seventeen

I not not nineteen

Anymore

Old warriors are bold

I will not be told

Anymore

Today’s pain will heal

Life is not a race

Anymore

Tired eyes are closing

I am not going fishing

Anymore

Sands of time have been

I will not remain unseen

Anymore

My feet are willing to travel

I am not covered in gravel

There is more

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I am not going to say i know your pain so i will not. but i have had pain since i turned 14. JRA. I still have it every where in my body (not JRA anymore just regular RA) and does suck. Just recently my knees decided I will not be able to jog anymore, in a very painful way. I love jogging. But i will settle for walking from now on. I just can’t sit still i have to get up and do things.
