Clear Blue Jar

A poem I originally wrote back in January 2018

Clear Blue Jar

Laying here looking above

Staring toward the sky

Wondering why

Why is our sky blue?

How do we perceive hues?

And why say “feeling blue”

When it’s not true

The blue I see

Is no one’s fool

So why fool with me

Seeing every new face

Has your forever smile

Yours on every dial

Like yesterday’s last mile

Doing your time in style

Smiling faces, new and old alike

Beaming, even from afar

Smiling at my new life

My life in a clear blue jar

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thanks Sue, I’m glad it was all so clear to you. As for my bumbling efforts, my sister has helped me heaps, I simply just need more training at it, I’m definitely slow and fumbling….

  1. blue is such a bipolar colour, it can be cold and unfriendly one moment then warm and welcoming the next. I was especially touched by seeing your forever smile on every new face, that spoke volumes. Love the photo of the clear blue sky.

      1. One of those moments, the words flowed easily for me, and I’d already had some clear background thoughts in my mind from the morning.

      1. I will have to have a look on my computer… I don’t think I could get close enough with my phone.
        Thank you, sweetie

  2. Her smile will live forever in your heart my friend. It will warm you, caress you, keep you young and she will always be with you. You will see her smile in the stars, in the face of a child, and her reflection in the mirror. People will see her smile through you ☺💛

  3. Ivor, you’re an angel. You’ve put a massive smile across my face. It looks something like this >>> 😀
This lovely poem reminds me of lazy summer days in my childhood, when I looked up at the sky, and fluffy clouds arranged themselves into the shapes of animals. It felt like they’d put on their show just for me.

    1. Yes I remember those days, laying down on the ground looking to skies, Funny here I was re-enacting my childhood just the other day, and funny thing, my thoughts and questions haven’t changed that much. I’m still a dreamer Jane. x

      1. My waking dreams come in short bursts, while I’m looking at the night sky, between writing poetry and sending messages. I never rest except when I’m in bed. Even when I have a visitor I’m restless, wanting to get back to my computer… and connect with friends who understand me – friends who write.

  4. You know, my friend, I just went through and read all the comments and all your answers and liked every one of them. It seems others have caught your spirit, your soul, and your dreams. I have too. And they are all so similar. As soon as it gets warm I’ll go outside at night and look at the stars and look for your lady’s star.

    1. Thank you ❤️ so much for reading all those remarkable comments Claudia, and I especially adore your wondrous comment. You’ll spot her star easily, the one with the “everlasting smile”
