Bird Watching (a Haiku)

Bird Watching (a Haiku)

Cold, wet, and grounded

Jealous, I see him fly home

As hail stings my eyes

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Mankind has always envied the birds for their ability to fly. In 2023, we still feel the same way! Even though we can easily board a plane, inventors still seek self-propelled flight! 🙂 I love your poem, Ivor!

Wishing you and Frankie fair weather! ❤

  2. Such an honor and a joy to watch the birds! They are always busy with their business, then off to somewhere. 🙂
A wonderful poem, Ivor! Relatable to all who read it. 🙂
I can’t remember who…but I read one time that “you must have the bird in your heart before you can find it in nature”…or something close to that. ❤️

    1. Thank you Carolyn… we are the jealous ones, always in awe of their ability to fly … I watch in amazement and sigh … wishing for a stairway to their kingdom’s sky… 🤗🌏🦅😍😊
