A Torn Thesaurus

I went to the Geelong Writers monthly social meeting at the Box Office Cafe this evening … I am back home, It’s 10.30pm, I’m tired, my computer is “duck muck” again, so I thought I would a reblog of this ‘appropriate’ poem before I hit the sack



A Torn Thesaurus



With my fiddle and riddles

Here in the middle

Of this unopened universe

Time spirals in reverse


Quills fly in from cyberspace

As alien words unravel and interlace

A torn thesaurus is my database

I wonder

Have I landed in the right place?


But that does not matter

K-9’s happy with the community chatter

Doggie treats and friendly pats

And he presents his paw for more

Like a hungry beggar’s cap

    PS…Grr-eat poem, Ivor. And aren’t thesauruses just wonderful!? I have always enjoyed them! Or as I look up the word “enjoy”, maybe I should say “appreciate”, “like”, “relish” or “dig”…HA! 🙂 Sounds like your Thesaurus is well-used.

    PPPS…I think we all wonder at times if we have landed in the right place. If not sure, we can go ahead and bloom where we landed! 😉

    1. Haha… my thesaurus is definitely well worn and torn .. just like Frankie, he goes everywhere with me .. we could be anywhere in the universe and any Alien would still adore my K-9 (haha Dr Who’s faithful computer dog 🐶)

  12. Lovely poem, Ivor and an adorable pooch 😊 I’ve been using Word Hippo rather than a paperback Thesaurus (wi-fi connection down – power outage – useless). Time to invest in a new updated copy.

Yes, my clever brother is on the way … meanwhile I have to be patient and I hope my readers understand the difficulties I am working through to still produce my posts … I was thinking I shut down a have a break for a month until the computer is repaired… but I seem to be getting by on my TV computer and I enjoy writing so much … writing poems is what I do!! … ((and look after Frankie)) 🤗🌏😊😍🐶📖❤️
