G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Oh, Ivor, this is a brilliant, powerful, ponderful, and heart-touching poem!
And Mr. Yeats quote is so true. Sadly we watch it play out over and over again…decade after decade. 😦
This posting is a wonderful quartet…your poem and photos, Mr. Yeats words, and that song/vid!
(((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
PS…
“When you’ve seen beyond yourself then you may find
Peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we’re all one
And life flows on within you and without you…” – Mr. George Harrison
Thank you very much Carolyn … wonderful words from George’s insightful song 🎶 … you’d recognise the first line of my poem and then my thoughts flowed on from there … and reading Mr Yeats is a great way to stir the imagination 😊🌏😍📖🎶🐶
Apparently man fears other men, hence the wars and the destruction. They also fear women, animals and the earth itself. Hence, the destruction of the environment and all living things. Men are just terrified of everything.
Yes, that seems their way, and they think they are more important than the whole universe … too damn stupid to realise that their are only a dirty speck of dust …
I couldn’t agree more. They are so fearful, they are willing to destroy everything. I’ll never understand it. Never. Makes no sense to destroy all life for greed and hate, as well as fear. I want to say that there’s something wrong with them, but I’m afraid it’s just who they are. So many lives lost, broken people, for what? Well, it’s going to play out the way it will, right? And we will be swept along with it. I used to fight back but it doesn’t do any good any longer, since the people in charge don’t care about the people any longer. I wish things were different, but wishing doesn’t make it so. Let’s just love what we can, while we can, and go with that. I don’t know what else to do.
Totally … I’m at a loss as as to what to say and do … greed and hate is so ingrained/entrenched into the system, even the governments have lost sight of the “Goal” …
“The Goal” (Leonard Cohen)
I can’t leave my house
Or answer the phone
I’m going down again
But I’m not alone
Settling at last
Accounts of the soul
This for the trash
That paid in full
As for the fall, it
Began long ago
Can’t stop the rain
Can’t stop the snow
I sit in my chair
I look at the street
The neighbor returns
My smile of defeat
I move with the leaves
I shine with the chrome
I’m almost alive
I’m almost at home
No one to follow
And nothing to teach
Except that the goal
Falls short of the reach
This is, truly, important, because unless we humans, become fully, aware, that, we share this, planet with all other living things, we will, never learn to, appreciate them, and in turn, very to protect and, fight for, what is, necessary to, protect.
Both, and…

But when are they going understand the ‘importance’ of sharing our planet … greed and selfishness seem to be more important …
