Throwback Friday, Moon Blossom

A “Moon” poem that I originally wrote in June 2019.

Moon Blossom

The old moon knows

After a bitterly cold winter

There’s never a false spring

And Eve’s apple tree always blossoms

Then the full moon shyly shines

Casting moon-shadows upon sacred ground

And asks about the planet’s fading designs

“Where have all the ancient spirits gone”

However, the new moon remains alluring

And his moonbeams spoon our imagination

Yellow ripples shimmering across blue lagoons

Casting moon-shadows over lovers’ bedrooms

And love eventually conquers us all

When moon blossom ringlets gently fall

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. This poem flows so beautifully, Ivor! And your vivid word-pics of the marvelous moon evoke emotions! The trio of your photo, poem, and THAT song! (One of my fave songs. 🙂 )
The moon brings such comfort, joy, guidance, light, security, serenity! On those cloudy nights, when I can’t see the moon, it makes me feel a bit melancholy. But, I am so grateful the moon always emerges again.
