Skylights, Out of Sight (a Tanka)


There are miles of clouds 

Cloaking the hot morning sun

Clouds veil the moon too

The day’s skylights are dimmed out

But my shadow stays in sight

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    I enjoy taking journeys with you in your poems…learning, relating, understanding, crying, dancing with joy, etc.! 🙂 Keep writing! 🙂
    We’ve had similar skies for the past 4 days (plus rain and snow 😮 )…so the sun and the moon have been hidden behind the cloud-blanket.

Love the quotes Carolyn … shadows come in many shapes and forms and of course my little shadow is Frankie 🐶 … Rhiannon’s songs are always wonderful to listen to, I think she was an opera singer … and when I take my photos, thoughtful words are already beginning to create a poem … Hugs & pats for Coops 💕😊💛🌏😍🐶
