Throwback Friday, Birds on Fences

Today’s Throwback Friday poem is from February 2023 and appears in Chapter 1 of my third book, Until Eyes Hear Sound, titled ‘Little Creatures and the Birds.’
“Birds have commandeered my poetic imagination lately.

Birds on Fences

What side of the fence
do you sit on?
Birds perched on fences
look down on the earth

The grass is not always greener
on the other side
Is there ever
a winning side
or a losing side

Worms burrow holes
on both sides
Shadows grow longer
under the one sun
Dawn rises on the dark side
and the sun sets on the bright side

Birds on fences know
That the mystery of our universe
Can be found in a blade of grass”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. I think the birds are very good to me, as they kindly pose for my camera! … Leonardo da Vinci was very inspired by ‘birds’ and he understood how magnificent they were … 😍❤💕🦅🕊
