Last week, Derrick posted an interesting article about “Recycling Rocks” which prompted the pebbles in my head to tumble around.
Please Note: Derrick Knight took the photos, and he kindly allowed me to reproduce them on my poetry site.

Rocks
Our buried rocks are not in the wrong
Isnβt that where they belong?
Some rocks like to live below the ground
Others lie exposed and love to be found
I have heard of people owning pet rocks
Do they put them to bed, in pyjamas and socks?
Some humans have never had their minds unlocked
They are an uninventive and uninteresting stock
That wear ear-muffs made from yesterdayβs iceblocks

Fabulous photos from Derrick! I enjoyed his post about rocks and recycling rocks! π
You two are a brilliant photos-n-poems team! π
I’ve been fascinated by rocks my whole life! We had a friend, when we were kids, who was a Rock Hound…he had the most amazing rock collection and amazing rocks…including geodes. π
Ivor, your poem is filled with wonderful images, rhyming-ness, powerful messages, and emotions!
I can see pet rocks in bed in PJ’s and socks! Rock on, rocks! π Very Dr. Seuss-y! π
What you said about Human-Beans is so true.

Yesterday’s iceblocks, that is really good. Well written. And your poem reminded me of the beautiful boulders of differshapes and colours we saw on a beach recently.

Ivor, this made me smile! I love the playful rhythm and the quirky humor, especially the bit about pet rocks in pajamas.
