Today’s Throwback Friday poem was written in October 2022.
Featured Image Above: Photo by Derick Knight, and I have used the photo once before in another poem (>> https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2021/12/01/time-watches-over-us/) . Again, thank you to Derrick for allowing me to use his photos on my site.>> https://derrickjknight.com/
I Did Not Hear The Midday Chime
I slyly lookup
In silent amusement
At the old chiseled face
Of my Grandfather clock
And I see his shaky hands of time
Are too bleak and meek
To strike the midday chime
I slowly close my eyes
Overused muscles are cramping
Weakened bones feel brittle
This complicated mind is tired
And my dream needs to sleep
Before I can write another rhyme

Which Title do you prefer?
Time Hears No Sound
Time Flies Without a Sound
Iβm searching for a title for my next book π

Time Hears No Sound. More intriguing and interesting IMO. The time flies title is too close to the old phase about time flying. Happy to lend my suggestion, dear Ivor. Best wishes for your new book! π€©ππ

Another wonderful Derrick photo and Ivor poem duet! They are always some of my faves of your posts, Ivor! π
You have many more fabulous rhymes in you, Ivor! When you feel one “coming on” write it down! In between proper rest and sleeps, of course! We all need those resting times! π
From a little girl up until today (I’m an older-more-well-seasoned gal these days! π :-D), I have always been fascinated by clocks…their looks, their sounds, their movements, their faces, the way they keep us company. π
Oh, and those cuckoo clocks make me giggle! π
