There is a cold, lonely wind blowing
Through the whispering tree tops
And here below the heavy blue sky
I am leaning like a knave bowing
Meanwhile
I see Autumn’s dry white clouds
Quietly drift away without waving goodbye

Mystified, I am wondering why
This season has been so dry

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  2. This was lovely, Ivor. We are having the exact opposite, plenty of rain which we usually don’t get till July or August. In fact, I just wrote about it in my upcoming Tanka Tuesday post- using the same whispering winds you sighted here. Great minds you know….

  7. Well, the clouds are making pretty shapes and “pictures”, but you need them to get REALLY dark and moody and produce some rain! Aw, sweet Frankie looks like he is braving the wind!
    Vivid word-pics in your poem…and I can feel the emotions, the wonderings, and the wishing for rain! I hope and pray the rain arrives soon!
    Oh, Mr. Waits! He’s one of my faves! 🙂
