An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
My Dark Apparition
My Dark Apparition
I saw a mellow sun Melt into a grey sky I saw a shallow moon Fall under a dark curtain I sliced the sickly atmosphere With the Reaper’s shadowy sickle
I heard a little wattlebird Tip-toeing through the broken trees I listened to a killer whale Crawling along a black, oily beach I felt the stained seashells Squelch into my murky footprints
I was dozing on a bed of tanbark And after my brown eyes opened I wondered. Was I having a nightmare Or was my dark apparition real?
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

This is quite stunning, dear Ivor …. and indeed gloomy …. but I love the way it flows. Clearly, Frankie is not as impressed with either your poem or his walk. It looks like he’d much rather be inside having a rest! π€πΆππππππ
Oh, it was a very cold and windy day for Frankieβs haircut, and we were both feeling the chilly conditions β¦ and I was gloomily reflecting on how us hoomans have polluted the worldβs environment πππππͺ΄πΆππΆ
The trio of your photos, poem, and the song/vid brought tears to my eyes. (Please pass the tissues.) I so pray and hope human-beans will seek to be kinder to the planet…to nature. We need nature and nature needs us. Why human-beans pollute the planet is so baffling and sad to me. π¦ By doing so we are harming all of nature…trees, plants, animals, birds, the soil, the water, the air, ETC! And we are harming ourselves and others. π¦
Powerful poem, Ivor! Thank you for writing it and sharing it.
Hey, Sir Frankie…you look so handsome with you new haircut and your stylish coat! π

One of my dream poems from the middle of the night … I wake and try to capture what I was dreaming about … obviously my subconscious is not happy with how “we” are continuing to pollute “our” own planet … (oh, sorry, I’ve run out tissues again!) … Thank you for your wonderful comments, Carolyn … ππππ³ππΆππ

That dream has a mix of dark and less-dark images! All in how you choose to see them, I say.

Dark is not always black
Dark can glimmer through the cracks

Both you verse and Frankie look a bit dark today. Is Frankie not pleased with his winter haircut?

A thought-provoking poem, Ivor. The dark of dreaming or reality, captured beautifully. Frankie looks very handsome in his doggie jacket! π
