A Butterfly’s Heart

The Featured Image above is a photo of the Birthday Card that I received today from a dear friend who lives in Selangor (Malaysia), which is on the Equator.

A Butterfly’s Heart

Part I, Heart to Heart

An equatorial butterfly
Landed softly in my hand
Sat upon my sleeve
And looked at me inquiringly
“We need to have a heart-to-heart chat”
Then said
“I’m here to regenerate your wings.
Join me in the sky, and follow your dreams
before tomorrow’s dust, waves you goodbye”

Part II, Dreams of the Heart

I cannot walk the continents
Like the intrepid Marco Polo
But my feet have felt the sands of time
Pass between my toes

I have not sailed the high seas
Like the courageous Christopher Columbus
But my body has bathed
In an ocean full of kind hearts

I’m yet to fly in space
Like the brave Neil Armstrong
But I have reached for the stars
And touched my soul’s dreams

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you very much for your birthday wishes … on our walkies this morning, we enjoyed the pleasure of both the bright sunshine and a glowing setting moon; our day’s journey had begun brilliantly, Nancy … πŸŒžπŸŒ—πŸŒπŸ˜ŠπŸΆπŸ˜

  2. Even though, we are, earthbound, trapped on this planet, and can’t go anywhere, can’t escape our lives physically, but we can, set our minds free, so they can, take us to, places we never imagined and beyond, that, is the BEST use of our, imagination!
